Ashtray donations
We live across the street from a park, on the corner. People frequently stroll by our house and cut through our corner yard during the day, even when I am standing in the carport. I can only assume that it is done in the evening as well. I also assume that the evening or early morning hours are when people are kindly checking our vehicle doors for us and relieving us of any excess change we may have in the ashtray. One might think that we would lock our doors because this happens, but we figure that they must need the change more than we do. It is a regular enough occurance that I don't think either one of us relies on having change in the ashtray, instead, we consider it a nice surprise. It's not like I check each morning or anything. So my question is...can we deduct the amount of money taken from our astrays as a donation to charity?

Hmm, I wish. I would write off all the times I took mine in to get serviced only to find the ashtray empty...or would that be considered a "tip"?
thats funny at least they are not breaking the window for your loose change. Our car got broken into and all they took were CD"s on leadership. Serves them right!
Hmm, sounds like a big tax deduction, but since Monique says no I believe her. Maybe the tip thing might work...maybe when you get to heaven you can ask to see all the people who "needed" change from you...lol
