Q: Why don't I spend 15 minutes a day working on cleaning out my laundry room so I have room to store the stuff that is cluttering my house?
A: Because in the 15 very productive minutes that I spent back there one morning Payton was able to :
  • empty the laundry basket I had just taken out onto the living room floor
  • take the empty basket to my bedroom to use as a step stool
  • open my jewelry box and remove the drawer to bring to the living room
  • get a carrot from who knows where (I thought they were all in the outside fridge!)

...and who knows what else that I did not find.

Q: What do you say when your vacuum is not working properly?

A: You can't say, "this vacuum sucks", because it doesn't.

Hmm, I really only told you what the answer insn't. I guess this post should only be a "Q". Oh well, maybe you have the answer.

Q: What's an empty styrofoam egg carton good for?

A: Entertaining a baby long enough for his father to mow the back yard, his oldest sister to make dessert, his other big sister to pick up her room, and his mother to make dinner.

Q: If a baby takes a step while his mother isn't looking, did it happen?

A: Not a chance.

Payton has been standing for a very long time now. He cruises like it's no body's business. He's started reaching and testing his limits to get from one item of furniture to the next, or to a leg or hand or whatever. But he just won't take a step. Don't listen to Bill. Or Tasha. Or Kyra. It didn't happen because I didn't see it. He just likes to stand and then he dives at me. I believe he has lead feet and can't pick them up.

Well, if it did happen it must have been because of his haircut. Bill buzzed his head Monday and I imagine it was his hair that was weighing him down. Now, free from the fluff in his eyes, he could see where he was going clearly...
But on Tuesday he didn't take another step. So, the verdict is still out. The verdict on his walking, that is. The verdict on the haircut is that he's a charmer with or without hair! (plus also, it's just fun to rub!)

Q: Why does a six year old dump an entire bottle of baby oil on the bathroom mat and surrounding floor?

A (#1): Because she thought we had more.
A (#2): Because she was mad at her sister.

I remained quite calm, thank you very much. Calm enough to get from lame answer #1, to reality answer #2. Ugh.

Q: What is better than a hundred random readers commenting on your blog?
A: Having just a few close friends that you care about noticing that you need a little lift.

Thanks to everyone that has emailed, commented, hugged, or said nice things lately. You're all great and you know who you are. I appreciate every one of you and didn't even know I was sending off the sad vibe. So, I sit here this Sunday evening, being grateful. Grateful to know super people like you, and you, and you. Sometimes the love of your Heavenly Father is enough, other times he sends great friends and family to your doorstep or computer screen. Amen to both. I've been pretty blessed.

Q: Who do you fear most?
A: "It's not a who, it's a what. I fear ignorance." (Agent Gideon, Criminal Minds)

This question/answer was just on a show I was watching. I feel the same way. Ignorance is something that I fear, hate, stress over, and worry about.

"Ignorance: lack of knowledge, education, or awareness."
(from merriam-webster.com )

Ignorance means you don't know about something. Whether or not you are making a conscious choice or not is where my concern is. There are plenty of things that we can ignore and not care about, but there are many other issues that we need to address as a world, country, society, culture, family and as individuals. Educated choices that need our full attention. Problems that arise that are affecting others, and may soon affect us either directly or indirectly. We may like to think that we live in a bubble, but the fact is that our actions or inactions are felt by people we may never know. One misspoken word, one misdeed, one inappropriate action, or one unkind gesture may lead someone in a direction they may not ever have taken. It is those seemingly insignificant actions that we do in ignorance that may haunt our society for years.

So, in 5 words or less,
Q: What do you fear most?
